    Day 1
You arrive at Phnom Penh airport in the morning, where our representative will meet you to transfer you to your hotel. In the afternoon you visit Tuol Sleng, a former Khmer Rouge interrogation camp located in an old school, and the Killing Fields. During the civil war, many people lost their lives at this historic site that is immortalised in the film with the same name.

    Day 2
You depart for Kratie by private car. There are a few short stops on this 5 hour journey. In the afternoon, a private boat will take you to spot rare freshwater dolphins in the Mekong River. Kratie is the only place in Cambodia where they can be seen. You’ll spend the night at a homestay on a small island in the Mekong, where you will meet local people and learn all about their life and customs. You also have the opportunity to take a cycle tour around the island, meeting local people and tasting delicious fresh fruit. (Cycle trip must be requested in advance)

    Day 3
Today you travel along an unsealed road to the capital of the Rattanakiri province, Banlung. You will see beautiful landscapes and some large pepper plantations on your way. After rice production, pepper is the main source of income in this region. On arrival, you check in at an eco-resort with a swimming pool, which is the former residence of the Governer of Rattanakiri. After a delicious lunch, we take you on a 45-minute scenic walk to explore the crater lake of Boeng Yeak Lom with its beautiful crystal clear water.

    Day 4
Your private car brings you to the Virachy National Park, passing a number of Kreung (minority tribe) villages build in the bamboo forest. We get off the beaten track today, by hiking for approximately 5 hours (fairly easy grade) through the countryside, passing through minority villages. The area has a huge diversity of animal and plant species, including slow loris, macaque and even the stunning (but shy) clouded leopard. You will enjoy a packed lunch along the way and arrive late in the afternoon in one of the villages, where you spend the night and have the opportunity to get to know local people and experience their way of life.
